The Punjab Agriculture Department is using its all resources to motivate growers for the cultivation of Sunflower because this crop contains elements to combat air pollution and eliminate Smog.
According to a spokesman of the department Najaf Abbas, smog is developed by particles or droplets suspended in the air that have width of 2.5 micron or less.
He said that multiple solutions are available worldwide for reduction of smog particles in the air but these are so expensive that Pakistan cannot afford it.
He said that Punjab government has also started Sunflower campaign which will also prove to be a milestone to reduce country's import bill on oilseed.
Najaf Abbas said that the government is also giving a subsidy of five thousand rupees per acre to the farmers on the cultivation of Sunflower.
