Baghdad (IINA) � Iraqi Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Othman al-Ghanmi confirmed that Iraqi forces are ready to begin the operation to liberate Tal Afar district from Daesh, and that they are waiting for the green light from Prime Minister and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Dr. Haider Al-Abadi.
"All the military requirements and plans for the next operation are ready," Al-Ghanmi told Iraqi News Agency on Sunday. He added that the joint Iraqi forces were deployed to the locations set for them in preparation to begin liberating Tal Afar district, in the Nineveh Governorate of northwestern Iraq, 63 kilometers west of Mosul.
Al-Ghanmi affirmed that the military will launch preemptive strikes before the start of the operation to liberate the district of Tal Afar. He pointed out that the next step after the end of this operation would be combing the Iraqi borders and cleansing them of Daesh militants.
