Jeddah (OIC-UNA) - Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the attack on the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) in northern Mali which took place on Friday, causing the death of four people including three peacekeepers and wounding several others.
Secretary General Dr. Youssef Al-Othaimeen once again expressed his categorical rejection and strong condemnation of the recurrent terrorist attacks in Mali. He said that security and peace are the foundation of any country's development. Besides, he asserted that the attack on the lives of innocent people and MINUSMA is extremely serious for Mali as a whole.
Dr. Al-Othaimeen conveyed his condolences to MINUSMA and the government of Mali and wished a quick recovery to the wounded. He considered that the investigations necessary to arrest criminals should be undertaken so that they will be accountable for their actions before courts.
The secretary general of the OIC has reiterated the OIC's support to MINUSMA and the Malian authorities and reaffirmed that OIC would continue its action within the international community for the effective implementation of the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in Mali.
