Jeddah (OIC-UNA) - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the terrorist attack perpetrated by a group on Saturday at Taouremba in Soum Province, Burkina Faso, in which six people died.
OIC Secretary General Dr. Youssef Al-Othaimeen reiterated his rejection of criminal acts and stated that security is a common good of paramount importance for the Sahel countries. Accordingly, he affirmed that no one has the right to undermine people's peace and tranquility.
Al-Othaimeen offered his condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the Burkinabe government, urging at the same time the governments of Burkina Faso and Mali to coordinate the necessary actions in order to arrest and punish criminals around their respective borders.
The secretary general reiterated the ongoing support and solidarity of the OIC with all the countries of the Sahel region facing the challenge of terrorism and fighting against this phenomenon in order to preserve stability and socio-economic development.
