In the wake of increase in cases of coronavirus in different cities including Lahore, Punjab government has decided to increase the capacity of hospitals for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
The decision was taken during a meeting held in Lahore to review situation of coronavirus in the province.
Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid chaired the meeting via video link and it was attended by the Chief Secretary Punjab and officers concerned.
Addressing the meeting, Dr. Yasmin Rashid said number of coronavirus patients in Lahore has increased at an alarming rate in the last few days.
Punjab Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik directed the Secretary Specialized Healthcare to complete arrangements for dealing with any emergency.
The Secretary Specialized Healthcare briefed the meeting that following the increase in coronavirus cases, the National Disaster Management Authority has provided 114 new ventilators to the Punjab health department.
