United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) handed over shelter material to FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) for Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) of South and North Waziristan agencies at a ceremony in Peshawar on Wednesday.
The shelter material includes four thousand tents, eight thousand plastic sheets and four thousand kits of relief items.
Speaking on the occasion, Director General FATA Disaster Management Authority Muhammad Khalid said ninety four percent of TDPs have returned to their native areas. He said the remaining forty nine thousand families will be repatriated soon.
Country Director United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Indrika Ratwatte informed that two hundred million dollars have been provided to assist the displaced persons.
The Country Director lauded the government's commitment to ensure the return of TDPs in a dignified manner.
