Jerusalem A high-level Palestinian delegation, headed by Chief Negotiator and Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Saeb Erekat, held talks here on Tuesday with US Special Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt and his team, WAFA reported.
The Palestinian delegation stressed at the meeting that Israel should stop all settlement activities, including in East Jerusalem, until an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine is set and an independent Palestinian state is established on the June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The delegation also said that the Palestinian position is based on international law and resolutions of the United Nations.
In addition to Erekat, the Palestinian team included General Intelligence Chief Majid Faraj and Mohammed Mustafa, head of the Palestinian Investment Fund, an arm of the Palestinian Authority (PA).
The American team included US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman and US Consul General in Jerusalem Donald Blome, in addition to Greenblatt, who arrived in the region on Monday on his sixth trip to revive the stalled Palestinian-Israeli peace process.
