Flag hoisting ceremonies held at Pak Embassies to mark Independence Day


A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Paris today in connection with the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan.

On this occasion, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said that Pakistan stood tall and proud in the comity of nations with significant contributions towards shared objectives of global peace, security and development.

He paid homage to the Quaid-e-Azam and other leaders of the freedom movement, in remembrance of the supreme sacrifices of forefathers.

Praising national hero Arshad Nadeem’s Olympics gold medal, Asim Iftikhar said that his accomplishment brought immense joy and pride for the nation.

The Ambassador emphasized that we must not forget our Kashmiri and Palestinian brothers and sisters, who have been struggling for over seven decades against illegal occupation and oppression.

Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said that Pakistan reaffirmed its complete solidarity and full support for the people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine for their freedom and ri
ght to self-determination.

Meanwhile, a flag hoisting ceremony to celebrate Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day was held at the Pakistan High Commission, Ottawa, Canada.

The festive event was attended by a large number of Pakistani diaspora and Canadian nationals of Pakistan origin.

On the occasion, Acting High Commissioner Faisal Kakar acknowledged the contributions being made by the Pakistani Canadian community and apprised them of the recent measures being taken by the Government of Pakistan to facilitate oversees Pakistanis.

He drew attention of the international community on the plight of oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, while reaffirming Pakistan’s support to their legitimate struggle for the right to self-determination.

Speaking at the ceremony, Pakistani High Commissioner, Dr. Mohammad Faisal reaffirmed Pakistan’s support at all fora for the Kashmiri and Pale
stinian brethren who are striving for their right to self-determination.

He acknowledged the hard work and dedication of British Pakistanis who are playing an important role in bridging Pakistan and the UK.

During the ceremony, special tribute was also paid to the Pakistani brave young man, Abdullah, who heroically tackled an attacker at Leicester Square in London and saved lives of a mother and a child.
