As Pakistan’s World Cup 2023 campaign is underway, the Green Shirts’ heartbreaking loss to Afghanistan has left former Pakistani cricketers disappointed. Former Pakistani pace bowler Aqib Javed expressed his frustration regarding the potential change in the captaincy of the Pakistan team.
During his appearance on a local sports show, Aqib Javed recommended that Shaheen Afridi should be appointed as the new captain of the Pakistan team after the World Cup.
Aaqib said, “Pakistan Cricket Team needs a new captain after World Cup who can bring aggression to the players.”
He added, “I will recommend Shaheen Afridi for making such a decision in the PSL (Pakistan Super League), which Babar Azam cannot even think of.”
It should be noted that this is the first time ever that Men in Green lost to Afghanistan in ODIs.
This defeat upset most Pakistani fans and former cricketers very deeply. The strength of the Pakistan team is its bowling, and it’s not clicking in this mega event.
