Islamabad: Naela Chohan (Former Diplomat): We have always cherished friendship with China as higher than mountains and deeper than seas and both the countries have proved it throughout the history. This is also evident from the level of meetings of our Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar with not only his Chinese counterpart but also had privilege of calling upon Chinese President Xi Jinping while many foreign ministers from other countries were not granted this opportunity to meet President Xi Jinping. Now both Pakistan and China have reaffirmed commitment to work together for a better world; for peace, security, connectivity, and trade. So I think that Deputy Prime Minister has paid a very fruitful and result oriented visit to China. Indians tried to link Pakistan with Pahalgam false flag operation at the BRICS forum but failed. It is a great diplomatic win for Pakistan because BRICS members took a principle- based stance. Same happened with India at SCO Defence Ministers' meeting where India wanted to include Pahalgam drama in the Joint Declaration, but on failure, of Indian Defence Minister when he walked out meeting refusing to sign the joint declaration. According to SCO Charter; platform is not supposed to take up bilateral issue so India violated the charter by raising bilateral issue. While we spoke about cross-border terrorism and terrorism as a threat to the region and it is truly a threat to all the member countries. So our position was incorporated in the declaration as all sides agreed to fight out cross border terrorism. According to Radio Pakistan, the recent diplomatic engagements between Pakistan and China have highlighted the enduring friendship and strategic cooperation between the two nations. The Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, had significant meetings with Chinese officials, including a rare opportunity to meet with President Xi Jinping, underscoring the strong ties between the countries. This cooperation is aimed at fostering peace, security, connectivity, and trade on a global scale. The diplomatic dynamics were further tested at international forums such as the BRICS and SCO meetings. India attempted to associate Pakistan with the Pahalgam incident at the BRICS forum, but the effort was unsuccessful, marking a diplomatic victory for Pakistan as BRICS members adhered to a principle-based stance. Similarly, at the SCO Defence Ministers' meeting, India's attempt to include the Pahalgam issue in the Joint Declaration was thwarted. The Indian Defence Minister's subsequent refusal to sign the declaration highlighted the tensions. The SCO Charter prohibits the discussion of bilateral issues, and India was seen to have violated this by raising such matters. However, the issue of cross-border terrorism, a concern for all member countries, was successfully included in the declaration, reflecting a unified stance against regional threats.
