Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has raised significant concerns about the ongoing illegal detention of thousands of Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders, in various jails across India and the region. According to Radio Pakistan, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas issued a statement in Srinagar condemning the extended incarceration of Hurriyat leaders. He highlighted that these individuals, along with other Kashmiri detainees, have been held for years on charges that are politically motivated. The spokesman accused the BJP-led Indian government of utilizing the judiciary and state institutions as tools to suppress pro-freedom voices in the occupied territory. He reaffirmed the commitment of Kashmiris to continue their struggle for self-determination until it reaches its logical conclusion. Furthermore, he emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution of the longstanding Kashmir dispute in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, to ensure enduring peace in South Asia. Meanwhile, the Congress chapter in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir has strongly criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for neglecting the longstanding demand for the restoration of statehood to the region. They urged the BJP government to honor its commitment in this regard without further delay. According to Kashmir Media Service, senior Congress leaders in IIOJK, including Raman Bhalla, Mula Ram, Yogesh Sawhney, and Ravinder Sharma, voiced their concerns during a press conference in Jammu. They expressed disappointment over Modi's recent speech in Reasi, where he failed to address the restoration of statehood, a promise that has been repeatedly made by the BJP leadership.
