Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has firmly dismissed claims that Pakistan Television (PTV) will struggle financially following the removal of the PTV fee. Speaking at the Standing Committee of the National Assembly for Information and Broadcasting meeting, chaired by Nadeem Abbas, Tarar assured attendees that the Ministry has adequate funds and that rumours about PTV's inability to pay salaries are unfounded.
According to Radio Pakistan, Tarar emphasized that the recruitment of anchors at PTV was conducted on merit, with no bias or favoritism. He highlighted the implementation of a zero-tolerance policy in this regard and announced the historic appointment of a Director of Human Resources at PTV. This move aims to streamline processes, as records of all employees have been automated, making complete employee details easily accessible.
Tarar also announced the appointment of Alia Rashid as the head of PTV Sports, praising her reputation in sports journalism. During the meeting, a comprehensive briefing was provided on PTV's financial and administrative condition, as well as on human resources and institutional reforms.
