Ceasefire Holds Despite Strait of Hormuz Blockade: Masood

Islamabad: Former President of Azad Kashmir and Ambassador Masood Khan stated that Pakistan's diplomatic initiative is playing a crucial role in maintaining a fragile peace amid a temporary ceasefire between the United States and Iran. This ceasefire persists despite rising tensions after the announcement of a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Radio Pakistan, Masood Khan addressed national media, emphasizing that although the blockade poses significant risks, the ongoing ceasefire indicates that diplomatic channels are still operational. He pointed out that recent negotiations took place in a constructive environment, with both parties showing flexibility on critical issues, especially concerning nuclear arrangements.

Masood Khan cautioned that enforcement measures like the interception or diversion of vessels could heighten tensions, specifically with China, which is heavily dependent on Iranian oil. He stressed the importance of avoiding direct confrontations between major powers in the region.
