Chairman Senate Emphasizes Need for Collective Strategy at ISC Meeting

Islamabad: Chairman Senate of Pakistan and Founding Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference (ISC), Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, held a crucial meeting with ISC Secretary General, Mr. Ek Nath Dhakal, at the Parliament House in Islamabad today.

According to Press Information Department, the discussion focused on the proposed conference scheduled for November in Pakistan. Chairman Senate Gilani highlighted the importance of the ISC as a platform for regional dialogue and cooperation, remarking that it would play a significant role in promoting peace and development both regionally and globally.

Chairman Gilani underscored the necessity for a collective strategy to tackle global challenges, emphasizing that such cooperation is crucial to resolving current conflicts and issues worldwide.

Mr. Ek Nath Dhakal expressed strong confidence in Chairman Gilani's leadership, suggesting that his global stature would enhance the ISC's effectiveness and inclusivity. The Secretary General also updated Chairman Gilani on the ISC's roadmap, which includes a request for observer status at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and plans to collaborate more closely with the United Nations on global peace and development goals.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to enhance parliamentary cooperation, foster regional peace, and address shared challenges through dialogue and understanding.

In a statement to Pakistan Television, Chairman Gilani welcomed Mr. Dhakal, noting the significance of his visit in preparing for an upcoming International Conference on Peace in Islamabad, aimed at promoting global peace and understanding.

Mr. Dhakal expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to him, sharing good wishes from Nepal's people, government, and Parliament. He emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between Pakistan and the ISC and nurturing the friendship between Pakistan, Nepal, and other member nations.
