Baku: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar today chaired a preparatory meeting for the upcoming 29th Conference of the Parties (COP-29) to be held in Baku from 11th to 22nd of this month. The meeting focused on aligning Pakistan's strategic objectives and ensuring active participation in the global climate summit. According to Radio Pakistan, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and the Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Romina Khurshid Alam, briefed the meeting on the ongoing preparations. They discussed the key areas of focus and highlighted the importance of Pakistan's role and contributions to the conference. During the discussions, senior officials outlined Pakistan's broad priorities and expectations for COP-29. These include advocating for increased global efforts in climate adaptation and mitigation strategies, and emphasizing the need for financial and technical support for developing nations. The meeting served as an opportunity to consolidate Pakistan's stance on critical climate issues and to prepare for fruitful engagements with international partners at the summit.
