Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has emphasized the need for establishing a competitive, innovative, and sustainable automotive ecosystem. The initiative aims to bolster economic growth and enhance environmental sustainability, targeting a future-ready automotive sector.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad to review the Auto and Auto Parts Policy. The meeting concentrated on expediting Pakistan's transition towards Electric Vehicles (EVs). The discussions highlighted the importance of adopting measures that promote EV usage, strengthen domestic manufacturing, and facilitate industry growth through supportive government policies. Additionally, the focus was on creating new employment opportunities, boosting exports, and contributing to Pakistan's climate change mitigation efforts.
A subcommittee was formed during the meeting to conduct a comprehensive review in consultation with all stakeholders and finalize the draft policy. The subcommittee's work will be pivotal in ensuring that the policy aligns with the nation's goals of economic growth and environmental sustainability.
