Pakistan’s star opening batter, Fakhar Zaman, is set to participate in a training session later today, during which his fitness will be evaluated in preparation for the ICC World Cup 2023 match against South Africa on Friday.
According to reports, Fakhar Zaman’s participation in the match against South Africa will be decided following today’s training session.
Fakhar Zaman, afflicted with a knee injury, was unavailable from the games against Sri Lanka, India, Australia, and Afghanistan in the World Cup.
It should be noted that Fakhar played only one match in the opening game against the Netherlands in this mega event.
Fakhar was replaced by Abdullah Shafique, who is performing brilliantly. He has included a fabulous knock of 113 runs in a historic run chase against Sri Lanka and has also scored stellar half-centuries in both matches against Australia and Afghanistan.
Additionally, Pakistan made a strong start in the World Cup, securing victories against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka. However, they faced setbacks with defeats against India, Australia, and Afghanistan, leaving them with four points from five matches.
Meanwhile, the Green Shirts are set to face the Proteas on Friday in the same venue they played against Afghanistan in Chennai. South Africa will be a tougher challenge for Pakistan, as they have been destructive in this World Cup.
