Islamabad: The federal government has completed a six-year rice productivity enhancement project in Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This initiative aimed to improve the rice yield in these provinces by introducing modern farming technologies and improved rice varieties.

According to Radio Pakistan, the project focused on integrating modern farm machinery, water-saving technologies, and high-yielding, disease-resistant, and climate-resilient rice varieties. These efforts were designed to bridge the gap between actual and potential rice yields in the regions.

The programme emphasized the development and introduction of advanced research initiatives to boost productivity and resilience, ensuring that the local rice farming industry could adapt to changing climatic conditions and meet the increasing demand for rice.
