Islamabad: A fire erupted today on the second floor of the Ministry of Science and Technology building, triggered by a short circuit in the HVAC unit. The ministry's fire safety system was activated immediately, and the fire brigade and rescue teams responded swiftly, bringing the fire under control in a timely manner.
According to Press Information Department, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Mr. Khalid Hussain Magsi, arrived at the scene promptly after being informed about the incident. He conducted a detailed assessment of the situation and ordered the evacuation of the building as a precautionary measure. Under his supervision, the evacuation was executed successfully, resulting in no loss of life. Importantly, no records were damaged during the incident.
Secretary Sajid Baloch supervised the entire rescue operation, ensuring the evacuation and firefighting efforts were conducted efficiently. The quick coordination between ministry officials and emergency responders was key in ensuring the safety of all personnel present.
Following the incident, the Federal Minister has called for a thorough inspection of the building's electrical system and a detailed assessment of the damage caused. He stressed that necessary measures will be implemented to prevent future incidents and to enhance the building's safety protocols.
