Islamabad: The government has approved the expansion of the Lahore-Sialkot motorway to three lanes, marking a significant development in the country's transport infrastructure. Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan announced that no future motorway project will be constructed with fewer than three lanes on each side, ensuring a total of six lanes.

According to Radio Pakistan, the minister addressed a meeting of the National Highway Authority in Islamabad, emphasizing the need for improved road infrastructure. He directed the National Highway Authority to expedite the work on the Sialkot-Rawalpindi Motorway, highlighting that its completion would substantially reduce traffic congestion on the M-2 motorway and enhance the travel experience between Lahore and Islamabad.

The meeting concluded with the decision to expand the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway from its current two-lane configuration to a more accommodating three-lane facility, aiming to better serve the growing traffic demands in the region.
