Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar says the government believes in the supremacy of Parliament. In a televised statement from New York, he said the Speakers of the National Assembly and the Punjab Assembly wrote letters to the Election Commission of Pakistan, asking how seats can be given to a party, which has no existence in the Parliament. The Minister said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was not the claimant in the case pertaining to reserved seats. Attaullah Tarar lauded the role of the Speaker in upholding the supremacy of Parliament. He said that an independent candidate has to join a political party within three days. The Minister said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf joined the Sunni Ittehad Council, which had no existence in the Parliament. He said the speaker has raised the question about floor crossing. He said how relief can be given to a party, which was not the petitioner. Attaullah Tarar said such legal and constitutional questions need to be answered. Source: Radio Pakis tan
