ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister's Coordinator on Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam has announced that the government is fully committed to the socio-economic development of mountain communities. She made this statement during a news conference held in Islamabad. According to Radio Pakistan, a new research study titled "The new inventory of 13,032 glaciers in Pakistan: the glaciers and students' project" was launched at the event. The study was a collaborative effort involving experts from EvK2CNR, universities, and government institutions in Gilgit-Baltistan, with support from Italian universities. Romina Khurshid Alam, in her address, acknowledged the significant contributions of international partners in executing comprehensive studies that led to the development of a new glaciers inventory for Pakistan. This inventory has identified a remarkable total of 13,032 glaciers in the country.
