Islamabad: The government has allowed the import of 500,000 metric tonnes of sugar by the private sector to ensure adequate supply and price stability in the domestic market. According to Radio Pakistan, the permission to import the commodity was granted by the Committee, which convened in Islamabad with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar presiding over the meeting to review the domestic sugar situation and its import needs. Ishaq Dar emphasized the importance of timely imports and directed all relevant stakeholders to ensure swift and effective implementation of the committee's decision.
