Islamabad: A meeting of the National Action Plan's Coordination Committee, chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad, has resolved to enhance coordination between the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) and the provinces. The decision aims to strengthen the overall fight against terrorism across the country. According to Radio Pakistan, the Interior Minister emphasized the establishment of a National Fusion Center to facilitate effective coordination. Mohsin Naqvi highlighted that NACTA would play a pivotal role in counter-terrorism efforts. He also announced reforms to restore NACTA's original role and ensure its effectiveness. The meeting included a decision to take comprehensive measures to curb the activities of banned terrorist organizations on social media. This includes blocking their accounts in cooperation with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Additionally, the provinces are tasked with implementing a strategy to prevent the use of illegal SIM cards. During the meeting, recent acts of terrorism in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were condemned. The Interior Minister assured that the federal government would fully cooperate in enhancing the professional capabilities of the Counter-Terrorism Force in these provinces. The focus is on strengthening police and frontier constabulary, equipping them with the latest technology, and prioritizing the requirements of law enforcement agencies. Security measures for Chinese nationals were also reviewed, with Mohsin Naqvi directing the full implementation of a foolproof security plan for their safety. The meeting was briefed that 206 terrorists were killed in 7,984 intelligence-based operations conducted till October of this year.
