Islamabad: Illegal Afghan refugees involved in various crimes are increasingly becoming a security and administrative challenge for host countries. Turkiye and Germany have intensified crackdowns against Afghan nationals involved in crimes such as murder, drug trafficking, and human smuggling. According to Radio Pakistan, Turkish security forces conducted an operation in the province of Igdir, arresting five human smugglers and eleven illegal Afghan refugees and recovering weapons. The eleven illegal Afghan migrants have been transferred to deportation centers for removal from the country, while five suspects have been sent to the prosecutor's office. Afghanistan International reports that 16,436 Afghan refugees have been arrested in Turkiye in the first five months of this year.
