Islamabad: The logistics and port connectivity system around Port Qasim is being further strengthened under the Prime Minister's Maritime Reforms Task Force. The initiative aims to enhance cargo movement, improve infrastructure, and facilitate trade activities.

According to Radio Pakistan, on the directives of the Prime Minister, the Karachi Port-Pipri Railway Link restoration project has been completed. The revived link, with the cooperation of the National Logistics Cell (NLC) and Pakistan Railways, is expected to improve cargo transportation between ports and inland destinations.

A multimodal logistics network is being developed to connect Karachi Port, Port Qasim, and Pipri Railway Yard through barge, road, and rail links, enhancing the efficiency of freight movement. As part of the National Dredging Plan, dredging at Port Qasim has been completed, while efforts to enhance dredging capacity at other ports have been expedited to ensure smooth maritime operations.

Infrastructure development in the industrial zone of Port Qasim has been accelerated, with enhanced monitoring and third-party audits. The establishment of logistics parks, warehousing facilities, and value-added services is aimed at modernizing port operations and supporting industrial growth.
