Islamabad: Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, announced plans for the distribution of 40,000 subsidized electric bikes to the general public. The initiative is part of broader efforts to promote the use of electric vehicles in the country, aimed at reducing pollution and cutting down the national oil import bill. According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister highlighted that significant incentives are being provided to foreign investors for setting up electric vehicle plants in the region. A subsidy of four billion rupees has been allocated specifically for promoting electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers, as part of the government's strategy to facilitate the transition to cleaner modes of transportation. Additionally, the Minister mentioned that banks will be offering soft loans to aid the public in adopting electric vehicles. As part of the subsidy plan, the government will distribute 40,000 electric motorcycles, including 120 that will be given free of charge to top-performing students in recognition of their academic achievements. Furthermore, Rana Tanveer Hussain stated that approximately three thousand charging stations will be established nationwide to support the charging needs of electric vehicles, underscoring the government's commitment to building a supportive infrastructure for this green initiative.
