Islamabad: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has refuted the claim by the Afghan Taliban regime that weapons are being smuggled from Pakistan into Afghanistan for so-called "subversive activities."

According to Radio Pakistan, the Ministry termed the claim frivolous, baseless, and contrary to established facts. It highlighted that Afghanistan is already awash with enormous quantities of sophisticated weapons. The Ministry detailed that Afghanistan possesses military equipment worth an estimated 7.2 billion dollars, abandoned after the withdrawal of US and coalition forces, in addition to the large stocks of Soviet-era weaponry accumulated over decades.

The Ministry argued that attempts to manufacture a Pakistani connection to such weapons seem to divert international attention from the documented concern of terrorist groups present on Afghan soil, which plan, support, and execute attacks inside Pakistan. It urged the Afghan Taliban authorities to address the presence of terrorist sanctuaries on their territory and fulfill their repeated commitments that Afghan soil will not be used for terrorism against Pakistan or any other country.
