Nation Commemorates Eid-ul-Azha with Religious Devotion

Islamabad: Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated across the country with traditional religious devotion to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismael (AS). The day commenced with special dawn prayers in mosques, with congregations offering supplications for the unity and well-being of the Muslim Ummah, as well as for peace, progress, and prosperity of Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, large Eid prayer congregations were held at central mosques, Eidgahs, and open grounds in all cities, towns, and villages nationwide. In the Federal Capital Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the main Eid prayers were offered at the Faisal Mosque and the Central Eidgah Sharif. During their sermons, Ulema and religious scholars highlighted the spiritual significance, values, and profound philosophy behind the historic sacrifice. They urged the public to promote the spirit of sacrifice, charity through the distribution of Qurbani meat, forging family unity, and compassion for the needy.

President Asif Ali Zardari offered Eid-ul-Azha prayers at Zardari House in Nawabshah, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered Eid prayers in Lahore. Following the prayers, the faithful performed the ritual sacrifice of animals to fulfill the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS). To ensure a peaceful festive period, the district administrations of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have put in place comprehensive security arrangements to prevent any untoward incidents.

Additionally, dedicated teams have been deployed for the swift collection and hygienic disposal of animal offal and wastes during the Eid days. Marking the auspicious occasion, Radio Pakistan is broadcasting a schedule of special transmissions, features, and programs dedicated to the spirit of Eid-ul-Azha.
