Lahore: The National Emergencies Operation Center of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued impact-based alerts due to expected widespread monsoon rainfall and potential flooding across several regions of the country, effective from today until Saturday. According to Radio Pakistan, in Punjab, regions such as Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and others are likely to experience heavy rain, wind, and thunderstorms. Urban flooding is anticipated in cities like Lahore, Gujranwala, and Multan, among others. In Sindh, urban flooding is expected in Karachi, Hyderabad, and several other cities. Moderate to heavy rainfall may impact areas such as Jacobabad and Sukkur, posing risks of waterlogging, road blockages, and infrastructure damage. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, areas including Chitral and Swat may experience moderate to heavy rainfall with potential flash floods and landslides. Meanwhile, in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, regions like Muzaffarabad and Neelum Valley face similar ri sks. The National Emergencies Operation Center has advised relevant authorities to ensure measures like drain clearance, public advisories, and emergency service deployment. Residents in vulnerable areas are urged to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel. The NDMA has called on citizens to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
