Islamabad: Pakistan and Belarus have reaffirmed their commitment to promoting technology transfer and industrial collaboration, with a particular focus on enhancing cooperation between small and medium enterprises.
According to Radio Pakistan, this understanding was reached during the ninth session of the Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, held over two days in Islamabad. Both nations have agreed to establish a Joint Feasibility Study Group to explore the prospects of a Bilateral Trade Agreement on Services.
The Pakistani delegation expressed its readiness to support the deployment of a skilled Pakistani workforce through a structured and mutually agreed mechanism, which aims to benefit the Belarusian economy while providing meaningful livelihoods to Pakistani youth. Additionally, Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to facilitate online B2B sessions focusing on seafood, fruits, vegetables, seeds, and dairy products.
Further agreements were made to enhance participation in agricultural exhibitions, food fairs, and reciprocal business delegations. These initiatives aim to foster partnerships, attract investments, and promote knowledge exchange.
In the realm of science and technology, Pakistan proposed initiating work towards a Mutual Recognition Agreement under the existing Memorandum of Understanding between the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus and the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority.
Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan emphasized Pakistan's strong commitment to its longstanding relationship with Belarus, highlighting the mutual trust, sovereign equality, and shared interests that underpin this partnership. He noted that the Joint Ministerial Commission remains a cornerstone of the bilateral relationship, providing a crucial platform to strengthen cooperation across various sectors.
Belarusian Minister of Energy Dzianis Maroz echoed these sentiments, expressing Belarus's readiness to support and expand cooperation across multiple sectors and welcoming new initiatives to further advance bilateral ties.
