Islamabad:The recent visit of Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev to Pakistan underscores the strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries. Pakistan places significant importance on its connections with Eurasian nations, particularly Russia.

According to Radio Pakistan, the former diplomat Amb. Ghulam Rasool Baloch highlighted that Russia, being a key member of the United Nations Security Council, plays a crucial role as a global player. The visit is particularly noteworthy as it reflects the diversifying relationship between Pakistan and Russia over the years.

During the visit, Pakistan is expected to address the issue of terrorism originating from Afghanistan, which poses a serious threat to both national and global peace. Baloch suggests that Russia could be instrumental in discussing this issue with the Taliban regime due to its considerable influence. Furthermore, he proposed the idea of Russia facilitating discussions similar to the Moscow Format on regional terrorism and the potential for technological collaboration to track and apprehend terrorists. The deepening ties between Pakistan and Russia are not intended to undermine relations with any other country.
