Islamabad: Pakistan and Uzbekistan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen their longstanding diplomatic relations by establishing practical economic and industrial partnerships in the housing and urban development sectors. This resolve was expressed during a meeting between the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, and the Minister for Housing and Works, Riaz Hussain Pirzada, in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, both sides discussed potential avenues for collaboration in housing, communal development, and sustainable urban growth. The Minister acknowledged Uzbekistan's rapidly growing economy and its potential for mutually beneficial cooperation, especially considering Pakistan's rising housing needs and increasing water scarcity. He emphasized the importance of adopting innovative and sustainable urban development models.
The Uzbek Ambassador highlighted his country's expertise in urban development and expressed readiness to cooperate in training and capacity-building initiatives in housing development, water recycling, green housing, and social infrastructure in Pakistan. He also offered Uzbekistan's support in sharing models and experiences related to rainwater harvesting, high-rise construction, smart and green housing, and affordable housing for low-income groups.
Furthermore, the ambassador proposed policy collaboration and knowledge exchange in areas such as public procurement, legal and institutional reforms, and emerging construction trends. He emphasized Uzbekistan's willingness to share its technical expertise to support Pakistan during a period of growth in the construction sector.
