Pakistan Calls for Peaceful Coexistence with Afghanistan

Islamabad:Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar emphasized that any attempts from Afghanistan to disrupt peace in Pakistan will be met with a response.

According to Radio Pakistan, Tarar made these remarks during a seminar titled 'Afghan Predicament and the Trajectory to Peace' held in Islamabad. He stated that Pakistan believes in peace and has engaged in several rounds of negotiations with Afghanistan to maintain peaceful relations, though he noted a lack of willingness from the Afghan side to achieve peace.

Tarar argued that the Afghan interim government needs to abandon a militant mindset, which he identified as the root of current issues between the two countries. He highlighted the presence of safe havens for terrorists in Afghanistan and reiterated Pakistan's concerns over the use of Afghan soil for attacks against Pakistan. He mentioned that Pakistan has responded to these attacks with retaliatory strikes.

The Information Minister also underlined the potential for increased regional trade if peace is achieved in Afghanistan, suggesting that such stability would lead to greater prosperity. He stressed that the Afghan people deserve a better and more prosperous future, which requires a consensus within Afghanistan and a platform for the Afghan people to express their choices and enjoy basic rights.
