Pakistan Calls on UN to Enforce Resolutions for Kashmir Settlement

Islamabad: Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has urged the international community, with a particular emphasis on the Security Council, to take concrete steps towards implementing its resolutions for a fair and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He made this appeal while speaking at a Pakistan-hosted Arria Formula meeting of the Security Council.

According to Radio Pakistan, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad highlighted the dangers associated with the ongoing neglect of the Jammu and Kashmir issue, especially given the tensions between two nuclear-armed states. The Ambassador described the situations in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as persistent challenges to the authority of international law and the UN Security Council's credibility.

Furthermore, Ahmad demanded an end to the Israeli occupation, emphasizing that the Palestinian people must be allowed to live in freedom and dignity by exercising their right to self-determination.
