Pakistan, Egypt Vow to Expand Military-to-Military Relationship

Cairo: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, during an official visit to Egypt for the 3rd round of Defence and Security Talks, met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. The discussions aimed at bolstering military cooperation between the two nations.

According to Radio Pakistan, General Mirza engaged with key Egyptian figures, including General Abdel Mageed Ahmed Abdel Mageed Saqr, Minister of Defence and Military Production and Commander-in-Chief of Egyptian Armed Forces, Admiral Osama Mounier Mohamed Rabie, Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority, and Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar. The talks centered on enhancing bilateral military cooperation, security, counter-terrorism efforts, and addressing the regional situation. Both sides expressed a mutual interest in further strengthening and expanding their military relationship, particularly in training, joint military exercises, and defense cooperation.

During his meeting with Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed El-Tayeb, General Mirza underscored the importance of religious and inter-faith harmony to foster tolerance and inclusivity while addressing the root causes of terrorism.

The Egyptian dignitaries praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in combating terrorism. Upon his arrival at the Ministry of Defence, General Mirza was honored with a Guard of Honour by a contingent of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
