Pakistan Navy’s Third Hangor-Class Submarine ‘PNS-M Mangro’ Launched in China

Beijing: The launching ceremony for Pakistan Navy's third Hangor-class submarine, 'PNS-M Mangro', was conducted in China. Vice Admiral Abdul Samad, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff Project-2, served as the chief guest at the event. He reiterated Pakistan Navy's commitment to safeguarding national interests and promoting a secure maritime environment.

According to Radio Pakistan, Vice Admiral Abdul Samad highlighted the significance of the Hangor-class submarines in maintaining regional balance of power and ensuring peace and stability. He further remarked that this project would enhance the strategic friendship between Pakistan and China.

Pakistan had previously signed an agreement with China for the acquisition of eight Hangor-class submarines. Under this agreement, four submarines are to be constructed in China, with the remaining four to be built at Karachi Shipyard through a transfer of technology arrangement. These submarines will be outfitted with advanced weapons and sensors, allowing them to engage targets at long range.
