Islamabad:Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Pakistan's commitment to supporting Syria's reconstruction efforts and affirmed the country's support for Syria's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister made these remarks following his meeting with Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted Pakistan's dedication to strengthening bilateral ties with Syria through increased high-level engagement and expanded cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, education, and information technology. He emphasized Pakistan's readiness to assist in Syria's economic recovery and support the aspirations of its people for lasting peace and prosperity.

The two leaders also discussed regional developments, including the situation in Palestine, during their discussions.
