Islamabad:In a significant diplomatic engagement, Pakistan's high-level delegation in London has called on the United Kingdom to assist in implementing the UN Security Council resolutions concerning Jammu and Kashmir. The delegation, led by former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, held discussions with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Jammu and Kashmir at Westminster.
According to Radio Pakistan, the delegation provided a comprehensive briefing to the Group regarding the recent tensions between Pakistan and India. They highlighted the escalating regional instability and the worsening human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The Pakistani representatives voiced their grave concerns about India's recent military actions, which they described as unprovoked strikes on civilian areas in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and the unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.
The delegation emphasized that the unresolved Jammu and Kashmir issue remains the central factor contributing to regional instability. They pointed out that India's unilateral move on August 5, 2019, to abrogate Article 370, along with subsequent oppressive measures, has further alienated the Kashmiri population and intensified regional tensions.
The delegation also drew attention to the systemic repression of Kashmiris, including arbitrary detentions, demographic alterations, and restrictions on freedom of expression in IIOJK. They expressed gratitude to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Jammu and Kashmir for its steadfast advocacy for the rights and dignity of the Kashmiri people and reiterated Pakistan's commitment to supporting the Kashmiri cause in accordance with UN Security Council Resolutions.
