Pakistan Working to Promote Peace in Region: Sherry

Islamabad: Senior leader of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and member of Pakistan's parliamentary delegation visiting the United Kingdom, Senator Sherry Rehman, has stated that Pakistan is actively working to promote peace and reduce tensions in the region.

According to Radio Pakistan, in an interview with Sky News, Rehman emphasized that Pakistan does not want regional conflicts to escalate into crises. She clarified that Pakistan's desire for peace should not be interpreted as a sign of weakness.

Rehman highlighted that the purpose of the diplomatic visits to the United States and the United Kingdom is to ensure that facts remain intact and the international community receives an accurate account of the situation. She reiterated Pakistan's commitment to sincerely pursuing peace.

She described recent tensions with India as an unnecessary and unprovoked conflict initiated by India. Rehman also criticized certain Indian media outlets for spreading misinformation and stoking war in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's nationalist agenda, which propagated false reports.

Furthermore, she affirmed that Pakistan is actively engaged in counter-terrorism efforts, noting the country faces one of the highest numbers of terrorist attacks worldwide.
