PDMAs of Punjab & KP Warn of Another Spell of Monsoon Rains

Lahore: Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Punjab has warned of another spell of Monsoon rains beginning from Saturday. According to a spokesman of the Authority, the spell will continue till Wednesday.

According to Radio Pakistan, in Nankana Sahib, water from the River Ravi entered nearby villages and settlements at the Head Balloki point. Meanwhile, the District Administration of Pakpattan alerted all citizens residing in the river bed of Satluj River regarding expected Medium level flood. In an announcement made at mosques after Jummah prayer on Friday, the citizens were advised to immediately shift to safer places.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed to provide facilities of Clinic on Wheels and Field Hospitals to affected people. She ordered special arrangements in the river bank areas of River Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also, Provincial Disaster Management Authority has predicted more rains till Tuesday. The Authority cautioned that strong winds and thunderstorms can damage vulnerable houses, electricity poles, billboards, and solar panels.

Meanwhile, the Authority dispatched fourteen more trucks of relief supplies to Swabi, Swat, and South Waziristan districts to provide relief to flood-affected people. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government also decided to depute teams of psychologists and psychiatrists to the flood-affected districts. Moreover, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has announced to disburse fifteen thousand rupees to each flood-affected family in various districts of the province.
