Lahore: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority in Lahore today.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, as well as federal and provincial ministers during the inauguration. Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister stated that this state-of-the-art institution, equipped with modern technology, will play a crucial role in eliminating adulteration.
He emphasized the significance of this initiative, which is unique in the country, in contributing to food security and maintaining hygienic standards. The Prime Minister noted that this initiative is the need of the hour. He commended Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her efforts in establishing the institution and remarked that the lab will be instrumental in testing the quality of various products. He highlighted that there could be no greater public service than this initiative, which will benefit not only Punjab but the entire country.
In her remarks, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif mentioned that the Punjab Agriculture, Food, and Drug Authority currently operates one hundred and forty-two machines, with five hundred and sixty-five more machines to be added soon. She stated that the authority now covers thirty-eight districts and tests a wide variety of items, including fertilizers, pesticides, food, cosmetics, medicines, and animal feed. She also noted that two hundred and thirty-two scientists are working at the institution.
