Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has introduced a major plan for the promotion of small industries in the province. Under the plan, a decision has been taken to set up an Industrial Hub tailored to the local production, expertise, and needs of different districts.
According to Radio Pakistan, an eleven-member Punjab Economic Transformation Committee, headed by Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, has been formed. The Committee will identify the potential at the district level through economic mapping and will also ascertain the priorities of sectors for the establishment of industry clusters in districts.
The Committee will set practicable indicators and establish both short-term and long-term timelines. It will also prepare a sector-wise practicable plan after consulting stakeholders from the private sector.
