Lahore: The Punjab government has successfully conducted its first pilot project to produce biogas from animal waste under the "Suthra Punjab Waste to Value Project".
According to Radio Pakistan, the Punjab Chief Minister, while chairing a meeting in Lahore, praised the efforts of the Lahore Waste Management Company for executing the biogas production project. The Chief Minister highlighted that a fifty-megawatt waste-to-energy plant will convert 3,000 tons of solid waste into electricity daily, significantly contributing to clean energy goals.
Officials at the meeting provided further details, noting that the biogas generated from the Lahore landfill site is expected to yield an estimated revenue of 2.5 million dollars over the next ten years. Additionally, the meeting reviewed the model for a proposed Recycling Park, which is projected to generate an income of approximately 190 million rupees.
