Islamabad: The Punjab government has implemented a new mandate requiring all government and private vehicles within the province to obtain fitness certificates. This measure aims to control the rising levels of smog affecting the region. According to Radio Pakistan, the Provincial Environment Protection Department has issued directives to secretaries of provincial ministries and commissioners to ensure strict compliance with this new regulation. The government has set the deadline for vehicle inspections as the 30th of next month, emphasizing the urgency of addressing the environmental concerns posed by vehicular emissions. The initiative reflects the provincial government's commitment to improving air quality and reducing smog, which has been a recurring issue in Punjab. By enforcing these fitness certificates, authorities aim to ensure that all vehicles meet the necessary environmental standards, thereby contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment for residents.
