Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar confirmed that relief efforts are ongoing in flood-affected areas, with all previously blocked roads now fully reopened. He discussed the relief operations alongside Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the restoration of road networks and electricity supply in the regions impacted by the floods. Chairman NDMA Inam Haider Malik stated that the management of losses resulting from debris flow and flash floods in Gilgit Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been completed.
The NDMA Chairman highlighted the contributions of the Pakistan Army, local residents, and FC troops in conducting search and rescue operations, which were instrumental in saving lives in the flood-affected regions. He mentioned that, under the directives of the Prime Minister, significant relief supplies, including tents, blankets, medicine, and rations, are being provided to flood victims in camps.
Inam Haider Malik also noted that a moderate to high-level flood is expected in the River Sutlej within the next two days, with water flow predicted to rise from 150,000 to 200,000 cusecs. This situation necessitates the evacuation of residents from the area. He urged the public to stay informed about the latest flood developments through NDMA's mobile application and website, emphasizing the critical role of media in disseminating information.
