Prime Minister's Coordinator on Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam has called for taking measures to protect lives, properties and livelihoods of the people from ongoing heatwave and possible monsoon floods. Chairing a meeting on Global Warming and Heatwaves in Islamabad today, she emphasized that sufficient stocks of disaster relief items should be maintained. Romina Khurshid Alam said adverse socio-economic impacts of the disasters are unlikely to be overcome as long as the well-coordinated disaster risk mitigation or prevention measures are not taken jointly by all federal and provincial departments.
