Russian FMD Vaccine Supply Restored in Pakistan, Bringing Relief to Livestock Sector

Islamabad: The supply of Russian Foot and Mouth Disease vaccine has been restored to Pakistan, providing much-needed relief to the livestock sector. The disease afflicts millions of livestock in Pakistan, severely affecting their production and exports. About 2,100 cases of the disease have been reported in the last three years.

According to Radio Pakistan, through the support of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, the issue of supply of the vaccine has been resolved. This development is expected to restore the confidence of livestock farmers and improve the disease prevention system. Russian Trade Representative Denis A. Nevzorov appreciated the role of SIFC in effective coordination among all relevant agencies.
