Salik Announces Allotment of Housing for Industrial Workers in Islamabad

Islamabad: Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain has announced that houses and flats will soon be allotted on merit to industrial workers in Islamabad. In his message on the occasion of International Labour Day, he emphasized the government's commitment to workers' welfare and protection.

According to Radio Pakistan, Chaudhry Salik Hussain highlighted several achievements by the government, including providing employment abroad to over 762,000 Pakistanis and increasing remittances to approximately forty billion dollars. The government has also created new job opportunities through bilateral agreements with countries such as Italy, Qatar, South Korea, and Belarus.

Additionally, Chaudhry Salik Hussain noted that the government has increased financial assistance for workers by raising the marriage grant from four hundred thousand rupees to six hundred thousand rupees and the death grant from eight hundred thousand rupees to one million rupees. He emphasized that the welfare of workers remains a top priority for the government.

He further stated that Pakistan has taken effective measures both nationally and internationally to protect workers' rights. By ratifying important conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Pakistan is committed to ensuring fundamental rights for workers.

The Minister also paid tribute to the brave workers of the 1886 Haymarket Affair in Chicago, acknowledging their sacrifices for workers' rights. He emphasized that their efforts have provided a new direction to the labour movement worldwide.
