Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has stressed that relief under the Fuel Subsidy Scheme to the public, including subsidies for motorbikes, public transport, and agriculture, must become operational at the earliest. He was chairing a meeting of the National Steering Committee on the Fuel Subsidy Scheme in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, during the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister was briefed that, with the support of the State Bank of Pakistan and provincial authorities, disbursement for public service transport vehicles has begun. Provincial representatives also informed that the mobile application for motorcycle subsidy registration has been launched, with disbursement set to commence from this evening.
Ishaq Dar emphasized that the mechanism should be simple, accessible, transparent, and widely publicized to ensure maximum benefit for deserving citizens. The meeting was attended by the Minister for IT and Telecom, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary IT and Telecom, Secretary Petroleum, Chief Secretaries of all provinces, and other senior government officials from relevant departments.
